Muskogee is the ONLY city in Oklahoma to celebrate the national Make Music Winter initiative on Saturday, December 21! Make Music Muskogee will host a sidewalk parade starting at 5:00 pm at the parking garage on the northwest side of the intersection of Broadway St. and North Main St. going west about three blocks to Arvest Bank, crossing Broadway, and returning east on the south sidewalk back to Main St. Free percussion instruments courtesy of Rhythm Band Instruments and other donors will be passed out to parade participants, and participants can also bring their own instruments—guitars, ukuleles, other stringed instruments, even brass and woodwind instruments, and voices—and we will sing/play holiday songs as we walk, selected randomly by shout out/consensus.After the parade ends, we will gather at Maxine’s Gastropub/Max’s Garage at 116 North Main St. for free hot chocolate and sweet treats.
If you can’t make the sidewalk parade and/or if you also want to ride the Muskogee Depot Green Christmas Train, come to the Green located at 205 Elgin St. at 7:00 pm, and more free musical instruments will be available. You can ride the train for $2.00 and play your instrument while the train “parades” on it’s route around the Green for Make Music Winter! Train hours are 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
