MAKE: Intro to Soldering – Light‑Up Box Workshop
Join us at Lacey MakerSpace on February 27th at 5:30pm for a hands‑on, beginner‑friendly introduction to soldering. This two‑hour workshop is perfect for anyone curious about electronics, DIY lighting, or simply wanting to learn a new maker skill. All supplies are provided, and no prior experience is needed.
You’ll get a fast‑paced crash course in essential soldering techniques, including:
Stripping and tinning wire
Creating clean, reliable solder joints
Understanding the difference between good and bad connections
Basics of through‑hole soldering
Troubleshooting common mistakes and how to fix them
After practicing the fundamentals, you’ll build your own LED strip light and install it into a small light‑up box provided by the MakerSpace. If you already have a small project you’d like to illuminate—such as a backlit display, dog collar, picture frame, or other creative idea—feel free to bring it along. The instructor will help you determine how to safely and effectively light it up.
Come ready to learn, experiment, and leave with a glowing creation of your own. It’s a great way to spark your maker journey.
