About this Event
Make BioMIA offers workshops for kids, families, and young adults to explore industrial and home biology through practical, engaging training programs. Our goal is to make biotechnology accessible, and prepare Miami-Dade county to take part in the bioeconomy.
Snacks and refreshments will be provided during a mingling/networking session that will take place before a formal presentation. During the presentation we will introduce our organization and our seasonal curriculum. We will then introduce the activity for the day.
First Workshop: Agar Art
Each participant will be given a sterile petri dish with a microbiology paint brush and palette. We will go over sterile techniques, how to work with microbes, and lastly how to make art with them! As a final example, we will create microbe fingerprints for all participants to take home.
