One of the nice things about woodworking is the ability to make meaningful handcrafted gifts. This wedding cake serving set is a great example, marrying a beautiful wedge-shaped server with a serrated knife that makes cutting almost anything, well, a piece of cake. Of course, it doesn't have to be a wedding either—the knife works just as well on bread, and the server just as well on pie. Since you choose the handle material, you get to set the tone. Threaded stems and inserts allow easy removal of the hardware for cleaning. In this class students will select beautiful hardwood turning blanks. You will learn the basics of turning, specifically turning the handle portion of the Rockler Wedding Cake Serving Kit (included in class.) Experienced and non-experienced wood turners alike are all welcome in this class! This is a comprehensive 6 hour class with a 30 minute lunch break. All class participants receive a 15% discount on merchandise purchased in the store on the same day of their class. Exclusions Apply. Students should come properly attired for a woodworking class (tight fitting clothing, long hair restrained and constrained from the face); and bring or wear provided industry standard hearing protection and safety glasses during equipment operation. All woodworking classes are held in a store that sells a wide variety of woods, including exotic woods such as cedar, aromatic cedar and other products (e.g., finishes, cleaners, etc.) that may cause allergic or other reactions in a small number of cases.
