Discover the art of crafting with natural ingredients at our *Make & Take* Home Apothecary Workshop. Immerse yourself in a hands-on experience where you'll learn to create your own herbal preparations. We will discuss home apothecary basics and essentials. From preparation techniques to the plant staples that every home should have available. You will learn how to properly research the plant allies that you wish to work with. We will see first hand how to identify commonly used local plants and their uses. We will start the class with a short walk around the property. We will identify beneficial medicinal and edible plants growing right outside your door! Plants that we may observe are chickweed, elder, violet, cleavers, Florida betony etc....We will then come back to the classroom and discuss common home health issues such as colds and flu, gut health, immune system maintenance, stress and anxiety relief, healthy sleep patterns, common skin ailments, pain relief... From sourcing quality ingredients to foraging we will cover all topics to give you the knowledge to begin stocking your own home apothecary.
All class participants will have access to 10 different plants from our apothecary to craft a tincture with. We will discuss the options and their beneficial uses. I will guide you in choosing the plant that works best for you and guide everyone through the tincture making process. If a tincture is not appropriate for you due to the alcohol content we will have alternative products for you to use such as vinegar, honey, etc. All class participants will leave with their personal made tincture and an info packet with the information discussed in class and easy to follow recipes and herb vendor information.
This workshop will be held at Cooper Farm Garden Center and will last around 2 hours. Workshop fee is $50 per person. This class is limited to 15, register soon! Join us and leave with the confidence and knowledge to take control of your family's wellness!
