I’m honored to be invited by the Boca Raton Museum of Art to speak about my connection to Japanese culture in conjunction with the exhibition Timeless Mucha: The Magic of Line.
Mucha himself collected works influenced by the Rinpa school, Japanese design, and Japonisme, which deeply inspired his elegant use of line and composition. I will be talking about how these influences appear in his art — especially through the beauty of ink lines — and how I have incorporated similar brush and ink techniques into my own work.
I will be sharing these insights on January 10 at the museum.
