During this four day workshop with fine woodworker John Shaw, learn how to make a delicate wooden container at a scale that allows the use of leftovers and offcuts.First, we will review the work process, considering how to balance ease of making and repetition with the material characteristics of wood. You will use a series of processes, machines and jigs to prepare, machine, assemble and shape wood to an accurate size and profile, then learn to use glue up jigs and jigged up sanding machines to form, fit and finish the pair of containers.
This class is designed for all skill levels: everyone will be encouraged to work at a pace that is appropriate for them. Those who finish early will be encouraged to repeat the process thereby increasing your skill and you make another container.
