Workshop fee: $175, includes 25 grams of fine silver metal clay, additional clay available for purchas.

In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to create a tiny trinket box using fine silver precious metal clay. Over the course of the session, attendees will be guided through the entire process, from designing the box to shaping, molding, and detailing the clay. The instructor will cover techniques for achieving fine texture, incorporating small embellishments, and ensuring the box's functionality, such as creating a loose-fitting lid. Once the design is complete, the pieces will be fired in a kiln to transform the clay into solid fine silver, revealing a beautiful, handcrafted treasure. The second class will be to polish and finish the boxes. This workshop is perfect for beginners or anyone wanting to explore the art of metal clay jewelry and small object creation.

FAVO - Faith Arts Village Orlando - is located at 221 E. Colonial Dr. in downtown Orlando, just a few blocks east of I-4. Put the address 718 Highland Ave. into your GPS to be taken directly to the first parking lot. To enter the facility, turn north on Highland from Colonial, there is a stoplight, and enter the second driveway on the left, through a black fence. You will see a sign that says "Park Lake Presbyterian Church, FAVO Art Studios". Proceed through the parking lot to the far right and rear and on through the driveway connecting to a second parking lot. You will see an L-shaped building with colorful doors - that's us! I am studio 237, second from the end upstairs on the right. Look for the moons!

Info: During the first session, students will be introduced to precious metal clay and given an overview of the tools and techniques that will be used. Students will be given 3 hours of guided instruction to construct their boxes. Pieces will be left with the instructor to be fired in a kiln over the next week.

Info: During this shorter class, students will be shown how to finish, patina and polish their boxes.
