Design and make a silver Christmas gift for a loved one, employing specialist techniques. It could be a pair of earrings or cufflinks, a pendant, a keyring – the choice is yours. Your experienced tutor will teach you how to transform silver into a beautiful gift. You'll gain knowledge of designing, forming and finishing your silver item using a variety of silversmithing methods and hand tools.
The course is suitable for beginners with no prior jewellery making experience, or for those with some knowledge who’d like to refresh and extend their skills.
At the end of the day you will receive a certificate from Bishopsland Educational Trust and the silver object will be yours to keep.
Your tutor for this course is Chamine Ghuss. Chamine has a First Class Honours degree in 3D Design & Crafts from the University of Brighton, as well as a teaching degree from the University of Bedfordshire. She has completed her first year on the Bishopsland post-graduate programme and is currently in her second year as one of two Artists in Residence. She has specialised in metalsmithing, polymers and composites.
You can do this course as a stand alone or book multiple short courses to build up a bank of jewellery and metalsmithing skills.
Saturday 23 November, 10am-4pm at the National Trust Heritage and Rural Skills Centre, Buscot and Coleshill Estate, nr Swindon SN6 7PT. £125 per person, all tools, materials and teaching needed to produce your gift will be provided.
