Proudly brought to you by the Waipā Waste Minimisation Community Fund!
In this workshop, The ReCreators will teach you about woodwork and how to safely use tools. You will head home with your own beautiful kauri platter!
This will be an enriching and hands-on workshop where you'll craft a platter from recycled native kauri wood. This event is perfect for woodworking enthusiasts and beginners alike who are interested in sustainable practices and creating functional art.
Learn how to properly sand, treat, and finish your platter to ensure it's food-safe and long-lasting. We'll cover different finishing options and techniques to protect and enhance the wood's natural beauty.
There will be a health and safety briefing at the start of the workshop to inform participants of safety precautions before we begin using tools.
Tools that will be covered in this workshop are a jigsaw, power drill, and sander. All participants must wear covered shoes and non-flowing clothing (tight-ish!).
Some work may be outdoors, please wear clothes according to the weather.
* Please note children are not able to attend with parents due to health and safety requirements.
You need to arrive at this workshop for the beginning of class and the health and safety briefing to be able to take part in the rest of the class.
