About this Event
What is Handbuilding?
Hand-building is a pottery technique that involves shaping clay by hand. Creating forms, without the use of a potter’s wheel. In this workshop we’ll be exploring slab-building, a hand-building technique for making pottery by joining flat pieces of clay or slabs..
Do I Need Ceramic Experience?
Nahhhh! This is a one-time beginner friendly workshop. Seriously, ALL skill levels are welcome!!
What to Expect:
Experience an introduction to ceramics through hand-building. The instructor, Hen Henderson (they/them) will lead you step-by-step on how to make and decorate a ceramic mug. We will be going over the basics of slab-building and exploring different methods of applying texture to clay.
Choose from 3 food-safe glaze color options.
All tools, materials, glazing service and firing services will be provided.
Finished mugs will be ready for pick up at Plantiitas 3-4 weeks following the workshop.
About the Facilitator- Hen Henderson (they/they):
