About this Event
You're invited to participate in the Christmas Light Parade this November! Join artist Becky Vincer The Beaney to create your own lantern and be part of the parade!
During the free and family-friendly workshops on Saturday, November 9th, you will create a festive lantern using withy (flexible bamboo), tissue paper, and PVA glue. This workshop is suitable for families with children aged 7 and above, and you can create one or more lanterns together during the 1.5-hour session. All materials will be provided. We recommend wearing clothes suitable for crafting, and you'll need to take your lantern home after the workshop.
The following week, bring your lanterns to Tower House, Westgate Gardens, Canterbury CT1 2DB on Friday 15th November 2024 at 5:30 pm to collect an LED light and join the parade as a family alongside local schools and giant lanterns made by the college. The parade will leave Tower House at 6 pm, walk up the high street, and enter the Cathedral precincts for a special moment as the city lights are switched on. After this, you can enjoy the festive market and take your lantern home.
Spaces for these workshops are limited and must be booked in advance, please cancel your ticket if you can no longer attend so that someone else can enjoy the activity.
All children must be accompanied by an adult.
