About this Event
Create a capsule wardrobe of co-ordinated, classic garments using the patterns from the Merchant & Mills Workbook. Make yourself a stylish multi-layered wardrobe from scratch.
This course runs one day a week for four weeks, which will enable you to make one, or possibly two, of the simpler items in the book. There will then be the option to book onto further weeks, so that you will be able to complete your full capsule wardrobe. This course is suitable for advanced beginners and some knowledge of commercial patterns and use of a sewing machine is desirable. The tutor for this course is Val Wynne who has many years experience as a college lecturer & is now the owner of The Sewing Parlour in Northwich.
The dates for this course are September 14th and 21st and October 5th and 12th.
The garments included in the Workbook are as follows:
The Bantam - a neat vest with a boxer back detail,
The Curlew - an elegant bias-cut long-sleeved dress,
The Saltmarsh Skirt - a simple long style,
The Heron Wrap Top - a bat-wing wrap top,
The Haremere Jacket - over-sized with drop-shoulders; and
The Strides - straight, wide-leg trousers.
There are also style variations within some of the patterns, giving an additional four or five garments, and adding to the flexibility of this stylish collection.
Full-size patterns for all six garments are included, ready to be traced off and put to good use immediately.
There will be a selection of natural fabrics for you to use but if you would prefer to make the garments in your own choice, please get in touch for advice on suitable fabrics and amounts. The cost for this course is £220 which includes the full pattern book, use of all machinery and equipment and any additional materials.
