Makaya McCraven, one of the most innovative voices in modern jazz, brings his boundary-pushing sound to Portland this fall. Known for his genre-defying approach and visionary albums like In the Moment, Universal Beings, and In These Times, McCraven has redefined what jazz can be, blending improvisation, hip hop, and global influences into a deeply moving live experience.Opening the night is Portland’s own Neighbors, led by drummer Machado Mijiga alongside guitarist Mike Gamble and bassist Garrett Baxter. Together they fuse indie rock, pop, folk, and jazz improvisation into fresh and adventurous sounds.
