These workshops will be role balanced. If you are switching roles, please send us a note in advance, so we can accommodate you best. You don't have to register with a partner, but you are welcome to come as a couple and stay out of the rotation.

Thursday, September 26
WORKSHOPS 1 and 2
Time: 7 - 9:30 PM

Workshop 1:
FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER IN DC - Technique workshops with Maja! This particular workshop is intended for single students (no couples).
Followers’ technique: Boleos and adornos. The forward and backward ocho and boleo will serve as a basic combination to which we'll add different embellishments. We’ll focus on rhythmic and technical precision and try out various combinations.
Workshop 2:
Valsing in small space. Applying the technique of traspié, we’ll show you a few fun and useful combinations in vals. The crowded milongas are the place to show them off.

Workshop 3:
Walking and/in the close embrace. What would tango be without walking and embracing! Through different exercises (alone and in couples) we'll show you how to make and keep a comfortable and soft close embrace and while walking effortlessly and elegantly.
Workshop 4:
Favourite combinations with giro. There are plenty of elements which can be added to giro resulting in fun and surprising combinations. From sacadas to boleos to changes of direction, let’s mix it all!

Workshop 5: 2 - 3:15 PM.
Ganchos for followers. Gancho is an amazing element to interpret the accents in the music. We’ll show you how and where to place it in a giro to really make it pop.
Workshop 6: 3:30 - 4:45 PM.
D’Arienzo vs. Di Sarli. Here we'll discuss the main technical and musical differences between dancing to two legendary tango orchestras. One is known for its rhythmical character, the other for its wonderful melodies. We’ll take standard tango elements and show you how to adjust them to express the qualities of these two orchestras.

What’s included: 2 workshops on either Thursday, Saturday, or Sunday - cannot mix and match days.

What’s included: 5 workshops (minus technique workshop on Thursday).
FULL PASS: $200
What’s included: 5 workshops and 2 milongas (ESL Milonga on Thursday and Milonga Fábrica on Saturday. Sunday milonga is pay at the door only).
