Known for her big personality and braggy punchlines, with a mission to make everyone feel as confident as she is. Inspired by NYC based black-owned brand Telfar, Maiya translated her love for fashion and Telfar bags into the signature track “Telfy,” co-signed by New York’s own Cardi B. Back in October 2022, Maiya went on to release the video for her buzzing hit “Telfy,” which led to her nabbing the premier feature spot on Flo Milli’s remix for her hit single “Conceited,” alongside Lola Brooke.
Earlier this fall, Maiya released her debut mixtape, Hot Commodity, which includes features from Ty Dolla $ign, Shawny Binladen, and Maeta.
On her journey to stardom, she plans on being not only one of the top females in rap, but one of the greatest rappers in the game. And today’s hitmakers are taking notice; including Latto, who even shouted Maiya’s name out as one of THE female rappers to watch, during Latto’s 2023 BET Awards acceptance speech. Additionally, Maiya was featured on the first-ever All-Women XXL Cypher curated by Latto. NY Times Magazine recently highlighted her as among the group of women today in hip-hop taking control and bringing vitality back to the genre, in their summer 2023 piece, ‘The Future of Rap is Female.’
In October 2023, Maiya was named the BET AMPLIFIED Artist for the month, this is a recognition from BET Music and a stamp of approval for the next big thing in music. Maiya just wrapped opening on her first-ever tour with Flo Milli. In winter 2023, Maiya collaborated with TELFAR for their debut release of the iconic Washed Denim shopping bag and accessories. She also was featured on the January 2024 digital cover of tmrw Magazine “THE FUTURE OF HIP-HOP” edition. Most recently, Maiya was selected to be in Youtube’s #FIFTYDEEP Music Class of 2024; which includes a cohort of artists, songwriters and producers in the hip-hop space from around the globe. This Spring she dropped her rock-tinged bold single ‘Mean It,’ and follows up with a special remix to her song ‘Expensive’ featuring Flo Milli.
