Misguided Diversity: A DEIB Framework
While Diversity is first in the DEI acronym, it should be last in execution. Focusing on a Diversity strategy when working on DEI initiatives may be misguided, resulting in an HR (recruitment) revolving door and temporary diversity. Bottom line: Focusing on Diversity is putting the cart before the horse. Diversity is the cart; Inclusion is the horse. Do inclusion right, and Diversity will be the natural outcome.
Learning Objectives:
- Grasp the DEIB Framework and identify priorities
- Understand the difference between Diversity and Inclusion
- Identify the pitfalls of a Diversity-first approach or the Paradox of Intention
- Develop strategies for building an inclusive culture
- Recognize the importance of Cultural Competence
- Learn how to promote a Culture of Belonging
