This Heritage Open Days explore Maidstone Town Hall a fine Georgian building, dated 1763, that was originally used as the Magistrate's Courts. The frescoes in the council chamber all carry their own unique stories, as does the ceremonial collection of silverware, which has a long history. This is followed by a visit to the unusual Gaol on the 2nd floor. Graffiti created by those waiting for deportation is still visible and fascinating to look at.
