It is, according to the Guinness Book of Records, the "biggest" symphony in the standard repertoire — six movements, the clearest illustration of Gustav Mahler's dictum that "A symphony must be like the world — it must contain everything."
To celebrate the twelfth season of Siam Sinfonietta, and the return of Thailand to the world of live concerts, the renowned youth orchestra is tackling this monster of a work along with mezzo soprano Tamara Gura, the Cherubim Children's Choir and maestro Somtow Sucharitkul, who was the first conductor to present this work in Thailand in 2009.
December 5, 2021 will be the first performance of Mahler's Third Symphony in the region by a youth orchestra. But the Siam Sinfonietta is no stranger to Mahler, having also done Nos. 1, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 9 in the past under the baton of Somtow, one of the region's Mahler lobbyists. French conductor Frederic Chaslin, hearing Somtow's performance of the Fourth in 2004, said, "I didn't think a non-Jewish conductor could understand Mahler so perfectly."
Somtow completed the Mahler cycle in Thailand in 2015 and is now revisiting the entire cycle, this time with young people as performers.
COVID-19 Countermeasures for Audience at Thailand Cultural Centre Main Hall
1. Strictly measure body temperature and show your certificate of Covid-19 vaccination before entering the main hall area. A digital certificate can be found under Vaccine Covid-19 Certificate in the “Mor Prom” application.
2. Children need to provide a negative ATK result within 48 hours or a vaccine certificate and must have an assigned seat.
3. Scan QR Code to register on “Thai Chana” before entering the hall.
4. Audiences must wear a face covering at all times, including when seated in the hall unless medically exempt.
5. A change of seat is not permitted.
6. Hand sanitizer will be readily available throughout Thailand Cultural Centre.
7. Keeping an appropriate distance to other people.
8. Please arrive at Thailand Cultural Centre at least half an hour before the start of the performance.
9. We ask you to refrain from going to the concert if you have symptoms of illness.

ตามสถิติของกินเนสบุ๊ค ซิมโฟนี 6 กระบวนซึ่งอลังการที่สุดในบรรดาคีตนิพนธ์มาตรฐานปรากฏอย่างแจ่มชัดในผลงานของกุสตาฟ มาเลอร์ “ซิมโฟนีต้องเหมือนพิภพ มันต้องประกอบด้วยทุกสิ่งทุกอย่าง”
เพื่อฉลองวาระ 12 ปีก่อตั้ง สยาม ซินโฟนิเอตต้า ออร์เคสตร้าเยาวชนไทย จะนำเสนอผลงานใหญ่ยักษ์ของมหาคีตกวีมาห์เล่อร์ ร่วมกับ Tamara Gura เมสโซ-โซปราโน และคณะนักร้องประสานเสียงรุ่นจิ๋ว เชอรุบิม อำนวยดนตรีโดยสมเถา สุจริตกุล วาทยกรคนแรกที่นำเสนอผลงานชิ้นนี้ในประเทศไทยเมื่อปี 2553 บรรเลงโดยสยาม ฟิลฮาร์โมนิค ออร์เคสตร้า
จะเป็นครั้งแรกในภาคพื้นอาเซีย ที่ซิมโฟนีหมายเลข 3 ของกุสตาฟ มาห์เล่อร์ จะได้รับการนำเสนอโดยวงดุริยางค์เยาวชน แต่กระนั้น ก็ไม่ใช่สิ่งแปลกใหม่สำหรับสยาม ซินโฟนิเอตต้า ซึ่งได้บรรเลงซิมโฟนีของมหาปรมาจารย์ท่านนี้มาแล้วในอดีตถึง 5 รายการ ได้แก่หมายเลข 1, 4, 5, 6, 7 และ 9 ภายใต้การอำนวยเพลงของไมสโตรสมเถา การบรรเลงดังกล่าวได้รับคำชมเชยจาก เฟรเดอริค ชาสแลง วาทยกรฝรั่งเศสซึ่งได้ชมการบรรเลงซิมโฟนีหมายเลข 4 เมื่อปี 2547 ว่า “ผมไม่คิดว่าจะมีวาทยกรที่ไม่ใช่คนชาติยิวซึ่งสามารถเข้าถึงมาห์เลอร์ได้อย่างครบถ้วนและสมบูรณ์เช่นนี้”
สมเถา สุจริตกุล ได้นำเสนอวัฏจักรมาห์เล่อร์ ครบถ้วนทุกบทแล้วเมื่อปี 2558 ขณะนี้เขากำลังย้อนกลับไปนำเสนอทั้งวัฏจักรอีกครั้ง ครั้งนี้เป็นการบรรเลงโดยเยาวชน
มาตรการสำหรับผู้เข้าชมการแสดง ณ หอประชุมใหญ่ ศูนย์วัฒนธรรมแห่งประเทศไทย
1. ผู้เข้าชมทุกคนต้องผ่านจุดคัดกรองเพื่อวัดอุณหภูมิและแสดงเอกสารการฉีดวัคซีนครบโดส ต่อเจ้าหน้าที่ศูนย์วัฒนธรรมฯ ก่อนเข้าพื้นที่ภายในหอประชุมใหญ่ ศูนย์วัฒนธรรมฯ โดยท่านสามารถเปิดเอกสารการฉีดวัคซีนในรูปแบบดิจิทัลได้จากโปรแกรม “หมอพร้อม”
2. อนุญาตให้เด็กเข้าชมโดยต้องแสดงผลตรวจ ATK เป็นลบภายใน 48 ชั่วโมง หรือแสดงเอกสารการฉีดวัคซีน และต้องมีที่นั่งแยกของตัวเอง
3. ผู้เข้าชมทุกคนต้องสแกน QR Code เพื่อลงทะเบียน “ไทยชนะ”
4. ผู้เข้าชมทุกคนต้องสวมหน้ากากอนามัยตลอดการชมการแสดงในหอประชุม หากมีความจำเป็นด้านสุขภาพ กรุณาแจ้งเจ้าหน้าที่
5. ไม่อนุญาตให้เปลี่ยนที่นั่ง
6. ผู้เข้าชมสามารถทำความสะอาดมือด้วยแอลกอฮอล์เจลทั่วบริเวณศูนย์วัฒนธรรมฯ
7. กรุณารักษาระยะห่างระหว่างบุคคล
8. กรุณาเผื่อเวลาในการเดินทางและการตรวจคัดกรองก่อนเข้าชมการแสดง
