The James L. Maher Center Garden Center, in association with URI Master Gardeners, will offer free soil tests on the second Saturday of each month beginning on Saturday, April 12 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The event will also include a Garden Information kiosk so bring your questions and garden concerns. Sampling Instructions: Use a trowel to collect ~½ cup of soil and spread it out on a piece of newspaper or a paper plate to allow it to dry. Pour the soil into a clean labelled plastic or paper container and bring it to Maher Garden Center, 910 Aquidneck Ave., Middletown. Testing your soil can help you determine how to amend your soil for happier plants and better growth. They can answer questions you might have about your garden and plants, and provide resources for further research. Join us and share the love of gardening at the Maher Garden Center!
