About 5,000 years ago, two factions of a royal family fought it out in a colossal battle on the vast plains of Kurukshetra, a sacred and revered site in present-day Haryana, India. The 18-day bloodbath was of course about jealousy, power and familial grudges, but, with Lord Krishna involved, transcended mere mortal combat to become a cosmic struggle between righteousness and unrighteousness. Profound philosophical discourses, such as the Bhagavad Gita, unfolded amidst the chaos of battle.
