About this Event

In celebration of Filipino-American History Month, House of Gongs is proud to present "Maguindanao Dancing in Spirituality", a unique cultural offering exploring the spiritual culture of the Maguindanao people. We are honored to host three respected Maguindanao Master Artists and Ritualists from Cotabato City, Maguindanao, Philippines, for this special event.

This tour showcases performances, dance workshops, music, and meaningful dialogues rooted in the deep spiritual traditions of Maguindanaoan culture. Central to this offering is an exploration of the Ipat healing ritual, an ancient practice that predates both colonial and Islamic influences in the Philippines. Participants will experience firsthand how spiritual elements are intricately connected to bodily movements, revealing the significance of dance in Maguindanaoan spirituality.
