Meet people, get some steps in, explore Fort Worth, and have fun!

Michele and Robert invite you to a casual Thursday evening walk around West Magnolia Avenue and the Fairmont-Southside Historic District with optional pizza dinner (or other options) after.

This particular part of Fort Worth has a lot of great public art, beautiful and historic residential architecture, and a lot of cool restaurants, coffee shops, stores, etc.

Fairmont-Southside Historic District

The Fairmount–Southside Historic District is a 340-acre historic district in Fort Worth that has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1990.

Structures in the district represent Late 19th and Early 20th Century American Movements architecture, Late 19th and 20th Century Revivals architecture, and Late Victorian architecture.

It includes the Meredith Benton House, the Johnson-Elliott House, and the South Side Masonic Lodge No. 1114 which were previously listed on the NRHP. The Benton House and Masonic Lodge are Recorded Texas Historic Landmarks along with the Grammer-Pierce House, the Gunhild Weber House, and the William Reeves House.

The listing includes 1,013 contributing buildings.

Cost: FREE for the walking tour, optional dinner afterward at your own expense.


Weather: Our walk will take place light rain or shine; if it’s on our calendar then we’re proceeding as planned.


Parking: A variety of options throughout the area. Please arrive on site early so that you have plenty of time to find parking and arrive at our meeting point.


Before the Event: Socializing at Avoca Coffee Roasters.


Meeting Point: 5:45 pm in front of Avoca Coffee Roasters: 1311 West Magnolia Avenue - Fort Worth. Look for your hosts Robert (wearing a fedora-style hat) and Michele (also wearing a hat) along with a group of friendly people. We’ll depart for our walk at 6:00 pm.


Icebreaker Introductions: We should have a good-sized group and so instead of everyone introducing themselves to the group we will get to know each other by distributing blank stickers and colored markers and we’ll ask everyone to write down on their sticker: 1). first name. 2). favorite food. 3). dream vacation. Example: “Michele - Strawberries - Kenya” or “Robert - Chocolate - Tokyo”.


Walking Distance: approximately 1-2 miles over approximately 60-90 minutes.


After the Walk: Optional dinner and socializing. One option is Pie Tap Pizza: 1301 West Magnolia Avenue.
