What would the world feel, smell and sound like if you had antenna like an insect?Design your own insect antennae and make a flower to be exhibited as part of a collaborative art installation for the upcoming event MAGNIFY: An immersive insect world presented by Wild Ground Creative Adventures and Amelie Ecology to be held at the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre on Saturday 8th June.
In this drop in space, you and your family will work alongside the artists and use recycled and foraged materials to make both antennae and flowers. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about collaborative artmaking, have your own creation exhibited at a public event and start planning your insect-themed costume for the event!
The art installation will be a collection of hanging flowers made by artists and our community that will welcome participants in the Magnify portal.
Participants will be able to take their antennae home and will be able to collect their flowers after the event on Saturday 8th June.
Your facilitators: Dan Eleni Carey is a writer, artist, teacher, and business owner of Wild Ground Creative Adventures. Dr Amelie Vandestock is a science communicator, musician, and educator with a PhD in native bee ecology. They are both Blue Mountains locals and passionate about nature connection, play and the arts.
