Kanta Horio will present the self-built devices that use magnetism to convert various phenomena such as sound, light, and electricity. Through physical motion, these devices may generate sound and explore their potential in performances and installations. Kanta will also talk about recent R&D projects on experimental musical instruments design.
Artist / Engineer, Kanta HORIO has explored the organic relationships between sound, kinetic motions and machineries for 20 years. He studied acoustics and computer music and is known for his unique sound and magnetism based devices. His performance and installation works are widely shown around the world. He also works in a variety of forms, like technical prototyping or tools development. He is currently based in Nagano, Japan.
