Our ever-popular S.T.E.A.M camp is back for another year with a fantastic theme aimed at making education fun, engaging and creative.
During the course of the week, your child will learn a wide variety of topics all with a swish of a wand and a sprinkling of magic.
Located at our spacious, green and innovative workshop on Tagensvej we’ll explore the S.T.E.A.M concept with your child whilst letting them engage with their imagination because we believe in a hands-on learning method.
What is S.T.E.A.M?
It’s a mixture of various subjects aimed at creating brighter minds and asking more unique questions.
Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Mathematics. Over the course of the week, each day is split up into the areas mentioned and allows the children to make, explore, and ask questions about the topics.
How does the week look for my child?
The week will be split into 2 sessions.
Our morning session is for children aged 6-11.
Our afternoon sessions are for children aged 12+.
We do this to ensure the right friendship environment is held and also so that they can engage with each other in the right manner too.
Monday - Science; Explore potion-making, create flying ghosts, perfect your levitation spells!
Tuesday - Technology: Cast a magic spell on your writing quills so they write themselves, and learn about how to send magic letters using special code and magicial lights.
Wednesday - Engineering: Wand creation station with real light, Learn to keep trolls at bay whilst using their own slime to trap them.
Thursday - Art: Create your own bespoke potions plant, Craft your wizard bag using special materials and naming day!
Friday - Math: Dress up day (Come as your witch or wizard character), arithmancy class, & learn to code to defend against the dark arts.
Materials - We provide everything your child will need to have a relaxing, enjoyable and magical experience. Our materials are all high-quality crafting supplies, machines, art tools and science equipment/chemicals.
We take sustainability as a main focal point in our business and we try to minimize waste and single plastic use as much as possible. All children will be allocated their own tools and equipment to ensure COVID safety is adhered to.
Refreshments - We ask that our morning class bring with them a lunch bag as the session is 10 am-1 pm. In our afternoon class, we stop for a snack break so your child is welcome to bring a snack if they feel the need. However, we always provide fruit (apples/ bannana’s/oranges), water and no sugar based squash at all times for both groups.
Admission - If you wish to have an admission letter sent to your home prior to camp we ask that all bookings be made before the 8th of June 2021.
We will send your child a custom made admission letter from the Minvera school of wizardry outlining that they have been selected to come to the camp on their chosen week.
Safety - Our workshop is located on secure premises on Tagensvej (200 sqm), our workshop leaders are all børnestøtter verified for safety. As well as all hold certification from the red cross in regards to first aid for children and young people. We have training on the use of EpiPens if needed also and allergy issues in case a problem arises during the time your child is in our care.
Unless otherwise noted, Our classes are held in English we ask that children attending also can communicate in English with us for safety and also to ensure they can learn correctly.
We're aligning with government state, and local kommune guidelines to mitigate as many risks as we can in creating a healthy and safe (and fun!) environment to work and make in. Our studio is suitable for up to 10 children indoors as per the government current ruling with education standards. However if this changes we will host our events outdoors under our sheltered terrace area.
We follow the updates on Covid-19 in educational spaces. This includes updated cleaning protocols, new methods of providing technique demonstrations, and no shared supplies between students.
Classes are filled to less than 70% capacity to allow for physical distancing between the seats at our main room large table and our lab room. Due to COVID-19 we only accept 8 people per booking and adhere to the local rules and regulations in regards to safety. We also have extra safety measures at the studio such as a HEPA air filter and sanitiser available at all times. Each guest gets their own tools and equipment which is cleaned after use ready for the next guest.
Face coverings aren’t required for children however we ask that parent’s wear theirs when dropping/collecting their child from the workshop.
