About the Artist
Osceola Refetoff is a Canadian-American visual artist and photojournalist known for his experimental use of infrared and pinhole photography to examine humanity’s evolving relationship with the natural world. His work straddles both fine art and photojournalism, creating striking, dreamlike images that transform familiar landscapes into something extraordinary.
A graduate of NYU’s Master of Fine Arts Film Program, Refetoff’s background in cinematography informs his distinctive approach to photography. He captures all of his images in-camera, utilizing historical photographic techniques, custom-built pinhole attachments, and archaic lens filters to reveal new ways of seeing reality—without digital manipulation. Through his innovative process, Refetoff challenges conventional perspectives, offering a fresh and thought-provoking vision of the world around us.
