The Mayas/Buck/Brown trio is an expansion of Buck (The Necks) and Mayas' long-time Berlin-based duo, Spill, but with the expansive addition of Melbourne-based Dave Brown (Pateras/Baxter/Brown, Western Grey, Stone Echidna, Dumb & the Ugly, and countless other sonic explorations) making this ensemble a unique beast indeed. The trio has been playing sporadically now for about a decade; usually low-key shows in Australia when Buck and Mayas are visiting or when Brown returns the favour in Europe.
The trio describe their music as "pointalistic interactions combined with contrasting timbral sonorities expanding the language developed by Spill into a new, more expansive whole; piano with objects and guitar and drums intertwined and subtlety shifting in focus, like a constantly shifting kaleidoscope of sound”.
On this tour, Magda Mayas has been supported by Goethe Institute.

And here's more info on the musicians:
Magda Mayas is a pianist and composer performer living in Berlin. She has developed a set of techniques that draw on the history of prepared and inside piano vocabulary but are highly individualized and expand the language for internal piano music making. Magda performs internationally solo and in collaboration with a wide range of musicians and composers. She has performed and toured in Europe, the USA, Australia, Mexico and Lebanon and collaborated with many leading figures in improvisation and composition. She has been producing radio pieces for ABC Australia and Deutschlandradio Kultur and released over 40 CDS to date.
Tony Buck is considered one of Australia’s most creative and adventurous exports, with vast experience across the globe. As a drummer, percussionist, improviser, guitarist, video maker and producer, he has been involved in a highly diverse array of projects but is probably best known around the world as a member of the trio “The Necks”. Apart from The Necks he has played, toured or recorded with Jon Rose, Otomo Yoshihide, John Zorn, T. Cora, Phil Minton, Haino, Even Parker, The Machine for Making Sense, Lee Ranaldo, Ne Zhdall, The EX, Clifford Jordan, Ground Zero …
Dr. Dave Brown has been involved in the Melbourne avant-garde, art rock/punk rock scene since the mid-seventies with such groups as “False Start”, “Signals” and “Dumb and the Ugly”. The first two of these groups began from associations made around the time he was completing a diploma of fine arts in the mid-1970s. Across his many creative projects, Brown has developed a vocabulary that runs the gamut from rock bassist through experimental guitarist to sound artist. In addition, his activities as a solo improviser and composer have been consolidated by a return to education, with the aim to research the relationship between digital recording technology and improvisatory techniques, concluding in an M.A. completed at RMIT in 2001. Following this Brown undertook a PhD research project at RMIT University investigating the use and benefits of electroacoustique compositions and field recordings within a hospital Emergency Department. This doctorate was completed in late 2012 and a book providing an overview of the project was subsequently published in 2013
