The Opposite of Hate: Building Community through Service
About this Event

We often hear the word "hate" thrown around, but what does it truly mean in the context of our community? And how can we counter it? This session explores the powerful antidote to hate: love in action. We'll delve into how committed, concerted, and strategic community service can transform our community and create a culture of thriving for all.

You'll learn to:

  • Define "hate" and "love" with a deeper understanding of their impact on our community.
  • Identify meaningful opportunities to engage in service that goes beyond simply "volunteering."
  • Consider creative and strategic approaches to address community challenges through collective action.

Our speaker, Sosamma Samuel-Burnett, J.D., is a seasoned human rights advocate and community leader with a distinguished career spanning over three decades. As Founder/President of G.L.O.B.A.L. Justice, she has dedicated her life to advancing social justice and human rights on both a local and global scale.

Sosamma's expertise extends beyond advocacy. She has served as a university professor for over 20 years, imparting her knowledge and inspiring future generations of leaders. Her academic background, coupled with her extensive experience leading non-profit organizations, provides her with a unique perspective on the challenges facing our communities and the power of collective action to address them.

Sosamma's commitment to service is evident in her numerous accomplishments. She has received numerous accolades, including the 2023 BizWest Woman of Distinction in the Nonprofit category, the 2022 Loveland Chamber of Commerce Mikki Roth Eagle Spirit award, and the 2018 Dr. Joan King International Woman of Vision honoree from Colorado Women of Influence.

Join us for this insightful and inspiring session. Discover how you can contribute to a more just and equitable community through the power of love in action.
