She received her B.A. from the University of Michigan and her Ph.D. in art history from Johns Hopkins University. Since 2011 Roth is Daimler Curator of the Busch-Reisinger Museum at the Harvard Art Museums. Current exhibition projects include Made in Germany? Art and Identity in a Global Nation (2024) and Disrupt the View: Arlene Shechet at the Harvard Art Museums (2022-25).

Peter Murphy is the Stefan Engelhorn Curatorial Fellow in the Busch-Reisinger Museum. He is co-curator with Lynette Roth of Made in Germany? Art and Identity in a Global Nation (Fall 2024) and curator of Katharina Sieverding: Transformer (Fall 2024). With Lynette Roth and Elizabeth Rudy, he is co-curator of Edvard Munch: Technically Speaking (Spring 2024). His current curatorial research examines the relationship between housing crises and disability in modern and contemporary art. Peter's doctoral dissertation and book project focus on the relationship between queerness and figuration in modern and contemporary painting from Europe and the United States.
