M'ADAM
M'ADAM is the new sad indie project from Cork based songwriter Adam O'Donovan. M'ADAM is a unique artist marrying the hushed soul of acoustic folk with pulsating electronic synths.
Started in September 2019, M'ADAM's debut album Horse Food Budget 1984 is a story crafted through captivating melodies, beautiful rhythmic work and inspired by overcoming challenges from both the self and the world. The listener will find themselves brought gently into the fold through upbeat, fun songs like 'Come In' and 'Cuckoo' before voyaging through darkness with songs like 'Second Place' and 'Doubt It'. The album ends on notes of hopefulness and triumph with the incredible 'You Are Back'. Overall, it is the tale of an optimists journey to the depths of the soul, battling demons, making peace and pledging to soldier on.
Horse Food Budget 1984 was recorded and mixed at Stoneview Studios with Colin Noone, with additional recordings and contributions from Fintan McKahey in Ivy Hill studios in West Cork as well as home studios in Cork, Manchester and further afield in a time where isolation was an unfortunate reality for all.
M'ADAM's Adam O'Donovan is a seasoned veteran of the Cork music scene having performed with acts like Atlantis Fire Department, Cassidy Club and Rob Carlile. 2023 saw M’ADAM play in venues such as Coughlans, The Hole in the Wall, and Fred Zepplins.
M’ADAM is currently recording two new EP’s working with Kealan Kenny and Eoin Barclay. The first EP which has environmentally focused themes is expected for release later this year. The first single off this EP entitled “Give me sun” was released in April this year. The second EP is expected for release early next year. The first single off this EP “Run of the mill guy” was released in July of this year.
