About this Event
Step into the atmospheric depths of Dupont Underground for an intimate, communal performance of Madam Judit. Adapted from the celebrated work of Slovenian writer Ivan Cankar, this monodrama stars NYITA Award-nominated actress Gaja Višnar in a raw exploration of longing, social defiance, and the search for authentic love.
This is not a traditional stage play. Guests are seated together at a shared table, each marked with a personal name card, blurring the line between the audience and Judit’s emotional world. As the story unfolds, you will be served authentic Slovenian wine (or water) at your seat, fully immersing you in the sensory experience of the performance.
Catch one of two peformances on February 13, at 3 and 7 pm. Doors open 30 minutes before the show.
The Program:
- The Performance: A striking English-language monologue directed by Alen Jelen.
- Artist Talk: A post-performance Q&A with Gaja Višnar.
- Slovenian Reception: A boutique social hour featuring traditional Slovenian desserts and wine.
Limited Engagement: To maintain the intimate nature of the show, capacity is strictly limited to 35 seats per performance. We invite you to join the table for a night of high drama and cultural immersion.

About Madam Judit: Written in 1904 as a defiant response to social hypocrisy, Cankar’s Madam Judit introduced an ethically modern character to Slovenian literature. Much like Emma Bovary or Anna Karenina, Judit refuses to submit to a "sham" marriage or the constraints of high society, embarking on a lonely, brave path toward her ideal of love.
