About this Event
Macbeth
Come experience the timeless tale of Macbeth live on stage at the Assembly Hall at the Church of Saint John the Evangelist. Get ready for a gripping performance filled with ambition, betrayal, and supernatural forces.
Our cast features many of the same professional actors that audiences loved in Holiday Spirits, Comedy of (T)errors, and Thou Shalt Not.
The co-artistic directors, Karen Alvarado and Dr. John Meyer, promise an unforgetable evening of drama and intrigue. "Shakespeare's Macbeth is a play we've worked on many times before, but we can promise audiences they've never seen anything as wild as this. In the performance this fall, we'll set the play in the 1690s, during the first wave of Scottish immigration to the New World. Most Americans are not familiar with that history, but it's the time period in America that best reflects Shakespeare's Macbeth -- a world of physical violence, vain ambition, and brute power."
Grant funding for this project has been provided by the Middlesex County Board of County Commissioners through a grant award from the Middlesex County Cultural and Arts Trust Fund.
Made possible by funds from Middlesex County, a partner of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
