Welcome a new day and enjoy the Hīkoi (walk) along the land where the sun hits first. Te Atatū – (Dawn of the Day), the peninsula surrounded by loving moana, a gentle breeze and breath of indigenous stories.
Immerse yourself and your whānau into the world of Māori narratives, nature, its abundance interwoven with iwi and local stories.
Enjoy the slow-paced hīkoi as you listen to a site-specific audio connecting and unlocking the hidden meaning of this whenua.

While you contemplate and see Te Atatū Peninsula in a new light, a deeper meaning will rise from the moana and evoke a strong connection.
At the end of the hīkoi you are invited to share in kai and participate in taonga tākaro (Māori games) brought to you by the M2M team.
Nau mai, haere mai all are welcome.

This FREE unique cultural walking experience is brought to you by He Oranga Poutama ki Tamaki, Community Waitākere and Papaya Stories.
It celebrates Marae/Iwi/Hapū in Urban Māori settings through active travel. We
acknowledge funding support by Henderson-Massey Local Board to make this happen.
