M.O.M
MOUTIN – OMICIL – MOUTIN
ΤΗΕ EPITOMY OF MASTERFUL JAZZ ENERGY & IMPROVISATIONAL QUALITY
The genesis of this incredible trio called M.O.M. is an unplanned encounter between an amazing saxophonist and horn player Jowee Omicil and the fantastic drummer Louis Moutin on the set of the jazz related Netflix series “The Eddy”. During that time star bassist François Moutin (twin brother of Louis) was traveling through Paris and at the end of the shooting Francois joins Jowee and brother Louis for a few home sessions. The trio improvised with a completely frameless approach driven by the thread of its collective imagination and by its individualities’ mutual listening. The sound created is unique and melodies get created on the spot! A whole new world blossoms at the point of equilibrium of the three great personalities. The trio’s creativity appears to flow organically just as fluid as it is jubilant. M.O.M.’s music is altogether joyful intense deep and spontaneous. Right after releasing its first album M.O.M the trio started touring in October 2021 with a concert at the New Morning in Paris followed by many concerts in jazz venues and Festivals in France and the whole Europe but also in the United States where M.O.M did a three week tour.
The extraordinary trio that is the.. epitome of the unpredictable(!) is presented in Greece for the first time from February 7th till February 10th at the Half Note Jazz Club in Athens. The group’s energy livelihood interaction with audience and joy on stage of these three masterful musicians are notorious and the spirit of the music perpetually drifts from Bebop to Hip hop and from Calypso to Free jazz. It’s that same spirit that echoes the presence of John Coltrane reaching out for Fela Kuti and Ornette Coleman reaching out for the late Miles Davis! Not to be missed folks!!!
