Chavela (2017) tells the story of the pioneering life of Costa Rican singer Chavela Vargas (b.1919-2012). Chavela Vargas gained popularity firstly in Mexico in the 1960's and then worldwide. The film explores Vargas's life and career, including her ❤ lesbian ❤ romances and her game-changing triumphs dismantling gender roles and the patriarchy.
