High-risk current or former cigarette smokers can get screened for lung cancer on National Lung Cancer Screening Day — Saturday, Nov. 8 — in Salisbury and Seaford. The Salisbury location is Peninsula Imaging in the Woodbrooke medical complex, located at 1655 Woodbrooke Drive in Salisbury. Screenings will be held from 8 am to noon; registration is required by calling 410-543-7006 prior to Nov. 8.
The Saturday screenings will use low dose computed tomography (CT) technology. CT scanning can detect incredibly small nodules, a possible early indicator of lung cancer, that a traditional chest x-ray might not see.
Most insurances are accepted, and eligibility requirements will be shared prior to signing up. Those without health insurance coverage are still encouraged to call and speak with a TidalHealth representative, as there may be resources available to help with the cost.
To learn more about the weekday screenings held throughout the year or to register, please call the TidalHealth Thoracic Oncology Program at 410-543-7012.
