is excited to present Peter Edge (baritone) and John Whittaker (piano).

This lunchtime concert will feature the Award-Winning Baritone, Peter Edge, singing a programme of music by contemporary composer John Whittaker. John Whittaker's lyrical and tuneful music follows in the tradition of 20th Century English composers like Finzi and Vaughan Williams - and is readily accessible for an audience. The programme will include settings of the poetry of Ursula Vaughan Williams, Andrew Young, the tudor poet John Skelton, Thomas Hardy, William Shakespeare and the contemporary writer, Anthony Pinching.

Peter Edge is an international baritone, known for his rich, warm voice and energetic and engaging stage presence. He is fast building a reputation as a charismatic singer and has won numerous competitions, including the International Medal at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod, the Christopher Ball First Prize in the John Kerr Award for English Song and the Chris Treglown Memorial Award.

John Whittaker lives in Reading, Berkshire and is a composer of mostly small-scale musical compositions. His chamber operas, choral and vocal works have been successfully performed in various countries including the UK, The USA, The Netherlands, Switzerland and Sweden. His string quartet was recently performed by The Adderbury Ensemble String Quartet.
