Exeter Library and Devon Wildlife Trust present a free and fascinating lunchtime talk with celebrated artist-photographer Robert Darch and Sarah Augbaya from DWT. In this talk, we'll delve into the Saving Devon Treescapes project, and Robert's recent commision, exploring nature photography, Devon's quickly diminishing ash trees, capturing the brutal effects of ash dieback, and the role of art in conservation.
This will be an informal 75min talk with plenty of Robert's work to look at, followed by a Q&A with Robert and Sarah. Refreshments aren't provided, but you're welcome to bring your own. There's also a cafe onsite.
Tickets are free but limited, so booking is essential.
Robert Darch
is a British artist-photographer based in the South West of England. He has published and exhibited widely and his photographs reside in public and private collections. Robert is an associate lecturer in Photography at Plymouth University.
His practice is motivated by the experience of place, in which the physical geography and material cultures of places merge with impressions from contemporary culture that equally influence perception. From these varied sources, both real and imagined, he constructs narratives that help contextualise a personal response to place.
Sarah Augbaya
is an Engagement Officer at Devon Wildlife Trust, currently working on the Saving Devon's Treescapes; a National Lottery Heritage funded project that aims to strengthen Devon's treescapes in the face of ash dieback disease
