About this Event
YOU ARE CORDIALLY INVITED!
Presented by Kirk Nickel, PhD, Marc and Lillian Rojtman Curator of European Art
Please join us for this engaging 20-minute Lunchtime Talk featuring the work of Sam Gilliam. Gilliam stands among the most celebrated abstract painters of the past 50 years. This month’s Art Talk will focus on his monumental Promenade I-IV, currently on view in the Haggerty’s anniversary exhibition The Big 4-0: New Views of the Collection. Although Gilliam always considered himself a painter, Promenade I-IV show him working with painted canvases in ways that resemble sculpture and collage, to stunning effect. After the discussion, you can stay to continue the conversation or explore the Haggerty's current exhibitions.
