About this Event
Friday 17th JANUARY 2025 | 1pm
Lindsay Hannon (vocalist), Alan Law (piano), bassist Paul Grainger (bass) and Brendan Murphy (percussion)
Lindsay Hannon returns to the Lit & Phil to sing a selection of songs written by Tom Waits. In homage to one of America’s most enduring composers, composer/vocalist Lindsay has re-arranged and reimagined several of Waits’ compositions.
For this loving interpretation of the American troubadour’s timeless material - from the nostalgia of Martha to the gospel-infused Picture in a Frame to the wonderfully titled Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis - Lindsay will be joined by pianist Alan Law, bassist Paul Grainger and percussionist Brendan Murphy. Jazz Journal magazine described Lindsay thus: A voice soulful, brooding and unselfconscious in its longing.
This Jazz at the Lit & Phil concert will appeal to the jazz fan and non-jazz fan alike, early booking is advised.
