About this Event

Alessandra Amorio earned an MMus in Flute from the Conservatory of Cagliari (Italy) 1st performance and a BA in Chamber Music from the Conservatory of Rome (Italy) 1st performance. She was awarded the Berio Prize at the “Severino Gazzelloni Fellowship Competition” 2002, for the best performance of Berio’s “Sequenza I”.

As an expert in contemporary music, she performs as soloist and plays flute(s) in two renowned Italian chamber ensembles: Imago Sonora and Piccola Accademia degli Specchi (ensemble in residence for the School of Composition of the Conservatory of music of Rome), participating in major music festivals across Europe (including“30 Jahre ¦Let UNIKUM Cirkus” Klagenfurt University, “Internationales Minimal Music Festival” in Kassel, “Luigi Nono International Contemporary Music Festival” in Trieste, Bratisalva's “Dolce Vitaj” VI Festival, Concert season of the Zeeuwse Concertzaal in Middelburg; “Cantiere Musica”, “September Concert”, “Nuovi Spazi Musicali” and “Suona Francese” in Rome), giving several world and Italian premieres of dedicated scores.

Rachel Dyson was a member of the ensemble for the Estonian National Opera in Tallinn. Originally from the north east she now is a freelance soloist and singing teacher. She has performed in opera houses and festivals in Russia, the Baltic states, Scandinavia, the Balkans, as well as Ireland and the UK, performing a range of works from new compositions to standard Opera and Oratorio repertoire. Some of the highlights were a recording of Wagner’s Tannhauser for German TV, Gounod’s Faust in Moscow

Pianist Yoshie Kawamura was born in Japan in 1984, and has been a resident in the UK since the age of 11. She completed both her undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama as a pianist, studying with Joan Havill. She then continued her music studies for a further 3 years at the Musikhochschule Freiburg in Germany, with Professor Mishory. In 2013, Yoshie returned to the UK to begin her second Masters Degree in Cultural Management at Northumbria University, Newcastle upon Tyne, where she is now based.

As a pianist she has given many performances worldwide including; Germany’s 200th year of celebration for Chopin, at Freiburg Musikhochschule, recitals at Luzern Marianischer Saal, Lunchtime Concert Series at Berliner Philharmoniker, and the International Stichting Apeldoon Festival in the Netherlands. She was also invited to join the Berlin Philharmonic Quartet in performing Schumann’s Piano Quintet on their tour of Japan; subsequently receiving an invitation from the Poznan Philharmonia to perform as a soloist in a series of concerts in Poland.

Yoshie is the recipient of numerous prizes and awards, including the Winner of the Somerset Festival’s Millennium Cup, prizes in the Watford Festival, and Bronze Medal at the Marlow International Concerto Competition. She has performed extensively across the UK and Europe, as a soloist and chamber musician at venues including: the Royal Opera House, St. Martin-in-the-Fields, St. John’s Smith Square, St. George’s Bristol, Kaiser Wilheim Gedachtnis Kirche in Berlin, Marianischer Saal in Luzern, Berliner Philharmoniker, Orpheus concert hall in the Netherlands and Matsuzakaya Hall in Nagoya, Japan.
