About this Event

VCAT has gone through significant changes in the last few years so we have created a brand-new session which will run across various locations in 2024. This session will assist Property Managers to have a more thorough understanding of VCAT and the way it works in today’s Property Management climate. Property Managers do need to have extensive knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act, the Regulations and VCAT to effectively manage their properties. This session will give you the education and information to be across the changes and how this has affected VCAT determinations & outcomes.

Tickets – $199 per attendee (morning tea & lunch are included)

Gain a solid understanding of the Residential Tenancies Act and the Regulations

Learn how to correctly serve notices & apply for hearings

Suggested wording for common notices & applications which sent to each attendee after the session

Learn about correct documentation and what is required for each notice

Go through the different summary of proofs

Understand the new On the Papers process and how to prepare for it

Learn about the Reasonable & Proportionate test and how to ensure you understand how it can affect your outcome

Learn about breach the breach process

Learn how to effectively follow the arrears process

Learn about depreciation in rental properties and how VCAT calculates it

Learn how to enforce a monetary order after a VCAT hearing

Learn about penalty units and how they work

Understand why interstate landlords need to be heard at the Magistrates Court

Learn where to find the relevant information so you can stay on top of the changes and educate your clients


<h4>Who should attend</h4>

This training is for anyone working in Property Management and it will suit all levels of experience.

CPD for VIC – Any activity that members undertake outside the REIV can be considered for CPD hours by lodging via the member portal. Simply login to your member account via https://members.reiv.com.au/ and record your CPD activity under the Manage Your CPD tile. Please submit evidence of the completed activity. Allocation of hours will be at the discretion of the REIV. No fees apply.
