About this Event
Learn about the transformative powers of light involved in a fascinating photographic process. Eric William Carroll leads this Lunch & Learn session introducing the art of cyanotype, a process that creates images of plants and other objects found in nature without access to a studio or even the use of a camera! This introduction and demonstration covers cyanotype chemistry, materials and exposure using natural and artificial light sources. Let this lunchtime overview whet your appetite for a day-long workshop that Eric will teach for us in August.
Eric William Carroll is an artist making work that combines his interests in science, nature, and the history of photography. Carroll’s work has been shown widely and has been included in exhibitions at the New Orleans Museum of Art, Aperture Foundation and the Museum of Contemporary Photography among others. Carroll has participated in residencies at MacDowell, Rayko Photo Center and the Blacklock Nature Sanctuary, and was the winner of the 2012 Baum Award for Emerging Photographers.
