About this Event
PSEC welcome attendance from all staff.
This event is aiming to be an informal discussion on Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and intersectionality from our panel of speakers, Lorraine Mighty, Sammy Li, and Sameera Khalfey.
The panel will spend 40 mins discussing the following:
• Experiences and barriers they have faced / are currently facing in H.E. / academia
• A reflection on the support they had when they started out
• Changes you want to see in the sector
• A post-topic discussion around similarities and differences in barriers faced by panellists: ‘how can intersectionality help us to better understand and challenge structural inequality'?
A 20 minute Q&A session with a pre-prepared list of questions. Questions, if any, will also be taken on the day. Questions are as follows:
• How do you agitate successfully without affecting career progression?
• Is there anything you can recall that you did in your early career that benefitted you? What would you do differently in hindsight?
• If you are currently in a line manager/leadership role - what culture have you tried to cultivate in your team? What positive influences have you tried to have?
