Learn how a changing climate is impacting trees in the Atlanta Metro area, tips to adapt your tree care, and the importance of native plantings. Dave Long, GA Forestry Commission Community Forester, will share some of the signs of stress (pests and diseases) observed in different tree species, as well as information about which tree species seem to be struggling, adapting, or even thriving in the Atlanta Area. Explore opportunities to shift how we plant and care for our native trees in a changing climate.
Key Topics:
Impact of Climate Change: Gain insights into how changing weather patterns, temperature fluctuations, and other climate factors are affecting tree health in the Atlanta region.
Signs of Stress: Learn to identify signs of stress in trees, including pest infestations and disease.
Tree Species Insights: Discover which tree species in the Atlanta area are struggling, adapting, or thriving amidst changing conditions.
Adaptation Strategies: Explore opportunities to adjust your planting and care practices to better support native trees and enhance resilience against climate challenges.
About the Speaker: An Atlanta native, Dave Long first began his career working in the private landscaping industry before deciding to specialize in arboriculture and natural resource management in urban areas.
