About this Event
Using photographs and archival footage, filmmaker Raoul Peck narrates the lead up to the assassination of Patrice Lumumba, the Democratic Republic of the Congo's first democratically-elected prime minister. Interweaving his own experience growing up in the Congo at this moment in history, Peck explores the vision, legacy, and memory of Lumumba. This film offers insight into western interference and destabalization of the Congo, which is critical for understanding the hyperexploitation of the region and its peoples in the present moment.
Doors will open at 5:45pm and the film will start promptly at 6:00pm. The film is approximately 70 minutes long. Refreshments will be available!
