Lulu Presents our first PopUp event!La Modestine with guest soprano Dorothee Mields (Germany)
Baroque Chamber Music Bliss: Celebrated West Coast musicians present a concert of 'Heavenly Delight and Earthly Peace.'
The 17th century ushered in a new ‘modern’ musical style, where individual instruments reflected a new way of composing which emphasized simplicity and directness of expression. Internationally renowned Marc Destrubé, Natalie Mackie, and Marco Vitale formed La Modestine in 2016 to explore this music born out of their joy in playing together. La Modestine's repertoire focusses on music of the Baroque for violin, viola da gamba, and harpsichord.
For this Gabriola occasion, the ensemble is joined by very special guest German soprano, Dorothee Mields, leading interpreter of the Baroque repertoire who performs regularly with the Netherlands Bach Society, Orfeo Baroque Orchestra, Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, The English Concert, Boston Early Music Festival Orchestra, ensemble of the J. S. Bach Foundation and many more. This will be an evening to remember.
