Lukraak found each other in the gutters of the Amsterdam underground. Since then they have been dedicated to create together in the moment. They klank, gargle and blow with urgency; centered bodies and flying limbs generate sounds vibrating in space. Equipped with a visceral rawness matched with deep listening and care, they use their musical microverse of collective freedom and radical equality as a means to connect and provoke. In October they are on tour in Northern Europe, preparing to record their duo album.
Lukraak consists of:
Marcus Wärnheim - alto saxophone
Thomas Jaspers - drums

Marcus Wärnheim is a Swedish alto saxophonist and improviser, currently based in Amsterdam. His artistic output is primarily based in a genuine curiosity of sound, which he works with through intense listening and a thorough research of the physical possibilities of his instrument. In recent years he has been preoccupied with acoustic solo performances, improvisational meetings, interpretation of other’s compositions as a sideman, as well as trans-disciplinary collaborations with dancers and circus artists.
Thomas Jaspers is a dutch drummer living in Amsterdam. He is performing with different improvising groups in the Netherlands and abroad. Besides this he is also a climate activist.
His activism and his music are getting intertwined more and more. He is protesting deep sea mining with the grindcore metalband ‘The Polymetallic Nodules’ and the deep sea is also the inspiration for his soloset with drums and electronics. Thomas has performed and/or recorded with a.o. Wilbert de Joode, Wolter Wierbos, Michiel Braam, Ab Baars & Bo van de Graaf.

With a heavy emphasis on free improv, noise, and free jazz, Malmö based guitarist Jon Lipscomb
(USA) conjures dissonant extremes with raw power. The guitar becomes a platform for atonal swirls and microscopic polyrhythmic pangs described by the Wire as “...challenging music ..not to be listened to in a fragile state of mind.”
He performs in the U.S.A. and Europe and has collaborated and improvised with Brandon Lopez,
Tim Berne, Anders Lindsjö, Wendel Patrick, Lydia Lunch, Ryan Sawyer, Ole Mofjell, Johannes
Nästerjö, Jaimie Branch, Kresten Osgood, Martin Kuchen, Ian McColm, Amirtha Kidambi, Iku Mori, Jason Nazary, Andrew Smiley, Luke Stewart, Zach Rowden, Chris Pistiokios, Ola Rubin, Asger Thomsen and Anders Uddeskog. Projects include solo improvisation, the Hite Wouse, the Swedish Fix, Nästy Lips, Lipscomb Quartet, Loplop, duo with Tilda Björnberg, Liminoid trio, and ad hoc meetings.
