Our special guest, who is a perfect fit to kick off Lucid Underground in 2024, Donna-Marie A.K.A Donna Birt is from Auckland, New Zealand. She opts for moody yet uplifting melodic melodies with techy bass lines, and is influenced by the likes of Maceo Plex, HOSH, Tinlicker, blaktone, Grum, Ann Clue and Boris Brejcha to name a few. She plays Progressive House, Melodic Techno, Minimal Techno and Main Room Techno – and we are excited about having her join us at Lucid Underground, Friday 5th April.
Donna-Marie started DJing back in 2001, where she heavily featured on the London party circuit, playing at all of the major venues in London. She could be found regularly playing at the likes of Brixton Academy, Camden Palace (now KOKO), The Fridge, Shepherds Bush Empire, Turnmills, Egg London, Scala and Ministry of Sound. She also toured Internationally throughout South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and to the US to San Francisco where she earned a reputation for her style of chunky, groovy and driving techy vibes. Since returning home to NZ, her sound has refined and matured to what you hear today.
She's partway through writing her 4th album and has a heap of new tunes to deliver, including a number 3 on the Beatport Top 100 Progressive House chart recently. Having a number of releases on Paul Oakenfold’s label Perfecto Black has been a massive career highlight along with releases on Freegrant Music, Manual Music & Polyptych to name a few. Donna-Marie has shared her musical amazingness at some epic gigs recently – closing the main stage on the first night at NZ's very own AUM Festival 2022, playing Dimension Festival 2023 & ‘24, Yatra Festival 2023, and just recently returning from a couple of gigs in Los Angeles, California.
